On the road
The origin of my images comes from all over the world, where I have traveled as an adventurer and mountain climber. Apparently my creativity had to mature for thirty years on the highest peaks and in the driest deserts.
My CV reads like a boys’ book: I have driven overland trucks to Africa and the calssic overland to Nepal. I rode the Silk Road with an XT500 and then toured throughout India with an old Enfield Bullet. And with a self-built motorcycle with sidecar, my wife and I traveled through Latin America and climbed the highest peaks of the Andes. I was also an Overland driver in Africa for a while and visited all the game reserves over there with tourists. Then I participated in the Dakar Rally with a huge truck: the headquarters of the race. Together with my wife I have cycled all over the world, mostly on local bikes.
The icing on the cake was the joutney to Mongolia in 2016 with my life-size steel horse, together with my friend and cameraman Bert Geeraets. Just for the art. L’art pour l’art. The horse was the catalyst for many encounters here. A beautiful film was made of this journey.
Now I travel through the Netherlands with a huge sculpture of my mother, my tribute to her. She is very close to me and it feels familiar.
