Alice in Wonderland could also be the title of all these sculptures. A young girl flies into her dream world. She stands tall on the back of the butterfly and convincingly points where they go.

She often has company of a friend: a monkey on her back, or a dog at her feet. Together they fly into their world of dreams. Just like I also sought out the unknown in Africa or India in my youth.

The butterflies all have the pattern of a Delft Blue vase in their wings. My first butterfly was a ‘Delft Blue’.

They have evolved, from green bronze, to stainless steel and to a very large size in beautiful Corten steel.
