Even in ancient times, the art of blacksmithing was highly developed. The Celts and Germans, in particular, were skilled at creating beautifully forged weapons and works of art. The invention of bellows made it possible to reach sufficiently high temperatures to release iron from iron ore, ushering in the Iron Age. A veil of mystery surrounded the blacksmith, who worked with fire and sparks of iron.

In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the blacksmith’s fire. We’ll travel back to the Bronze Age, as we’ll also be working with softer bronze. We’ll also choose bronze because it patinas beautifully. At the end of the morning, you’ll go home with a true work of art.
